Introducing New LGBT & Carer Bereavement Support Recovery Mutual Aid/ Self Help Groups

Details of a new LGBT and Carers bereavement self help support groups in Nottingham

Peer led groups can be a key source of support for people to help provide both practical and emotional support and advice for people experiencing a range of health and social challenges, such as drug or alcohol problems. These groups are an additional layer of support for individuals to help complement existing services and treatment available elsewhere. If you need any further copies or additional information about these groups, please do not hesitate to get in touch. The new groups are:

LGBT Recovery

This group is has been borne out of the recognition from some individuals that there is the need for a place to be able to talk openly about their sexuality and problems around addiction at the same time. This is a unique group, and hopes to offer a safe, non-judgemental environment for LGBT people to talk openly about their problems and challenges around addiction, and to offer mutual support to one another.

Leeway Bereavement

Leeway is a peer led group, designed to help support people who have lost a loved one to alcohol or substance misuse. As Leeway is targeted at supporting a particularly specified section of the community, they will be holding a launch event on Friday 24th February, at Counselling Xtra. This event will give the opportunity for those who may wish to be part of Leeway to find out more and hear a little bit more about how it began. It is also the chance for those who may be interested in signposting to this group, and also to helping to shape its future in order to provide a source of support for those who have lost loved ones due to drug or alcohol problems.
