Cocaine: Where Do You Draw The Line?

Nottingham CDP has joined forces with the Safer Nottinghamshire Drug and Alcohol Action Team to run a campaign targeting young people who take cocaine or who may be considering taking cocaine.

The campaign which has been adapted from a similar campaign run in Birmingham and takes the form of a vod and podcast, the aims of the campaign are to encourage thought and discussion on the extensive consequences of cocaine use. The campaign also signposts people who want to find out more about cocaine to the FRANK website / helpline and signpost people who may require specific drug treatment to local drug services.

Nottingham CDP in partnership with Nottingham Trent University recently won the national FRANK award for their campaigning work on cocaine, the campaign Heart and Soul of the Party? has subsequently been adopted by over 140 organisations across the country, this new campaign which runs with the strapline “Cocaine – Where do you draw the line?” is in keeping with the CDP’s proactive stance.

Stephen Youdell of the Crime and Drugs Partnership said:

"We have joined forces with our colleagues in the County to highlight the risks associated with cocaine use, using cocaine even in the smallest quantity is both illegal and can have serious consequences on an individuals health and wellbeing.

We hope that this campaign will reach young people as they prepare for a night out or who may be travelling into the city. It’s worth remembering that the majority of young people do not take cocaine but we understand the need to communicate proactively with those young people who may find themselves under pressure to experiment with drugs."
