Community Crime Fighters meet boxing champion Carl Froch

Community Crime Fighters were recently invited to the launch of a new Auxiliary Community Protection Officer scheme, fronted by WBC champion Carl Froch in Nottingham.
Community Crime Fighters Pete Wright and Chris Cook met and spoke with the 'Cobra' about why they volunteer to help fight crime in the city. They also met with representatives from Nottingham City Council's Community Protection Directorate and Nottinghamshire Police about ways they can work to drive out crime in their area.
The multi-agency scheme is open to anyone who wants to get back into work or is looking for a more rewarding career.
Volunteers will be trained by Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire Police, and once in post will tackle anti-social behaviour and environmental crime, including littering, nuisance neighbours and fly-tipping.
Carl Froch, WBC Super Middleweight Champion, said: “I’m proud to come from Nottingham and I’m happy to back any project that helps support its people. "
"This scheme is a great way to help people who are trying to get back to work or who just want to give their time to help make this city a safer and cleaner place for us all to live."
Allan Breeton, Coordinator, Neighbourhood Crime & Justice said: "I fully support the new Auxiliary CPO scheme, which gives people the opportunity to gain skills and experience in community protection. Like the nationally recognised Community Payback and Community Crime Fighters schemes, the new volunteers will help to tackle anti-social behaviour and make Nottingham a cleaner and safer city for people to live."
