CARRYING A GUN CAN GET YOU INTO THE COOLEST PLACES

On 14th August 2007 Nottingham Crime and Drugs Partnership, in conjunction with Nottingham Stands Together, will be posting the attached ´Mortuary Poster´ on bus shelters within the City.

The aim of the poster is to inform people of the risks of carrying weapons and to deter them from doing so. The incidents of gun crime have reduced over recent years and this poster is a further resource available for partners to help sustain this momentum. A similar campaign has previously been conducted through Operation Trident in the London area (an Operation run by the Metropolitan Police aimed at targeting Black on Black Gun and Knife crime) and was well received by the community. This poster has been developed for local use from that successful campaign.

In reaching our present position we have consulted with young people and victims of gun crime, who have advised on the production and use of the poster. In addition to this public campaign, the posters have been displayed in Police Custody suites and local prisons in an effort to achieve the maximum impact on our target audience.
