Shared Care Strategy
Shared Care is a prescribing based drug treatment intervention provided within a primary care setting. Specialist drug treatment workers and skilled GPs work together to deliver high quality substance misuse treatment to those in need.
Nottingham Crime & Drugs Partnership has significantly expanded Shared Care drug treatment provision across Nottingham City in the past 18 months. Expansion of the Shared Care Scheme has been targeted in areas with identified problematic drug user, resulting in a 71% expansion of Shared Care clinics.
Further expansion for 2007/08 is already underway with two new clinics soon to be establushed and a total of 10 new GPs to be trained to deliver drug treatment in July.
The Shared Care Strategy written in 2006 sets out plans for Shared Care during 2006/07 and 2007/08.
